The Czech Republic is located in the heart of Europe. Historically it has been a part of many empires and monarchies. The first democratic czechoslovak state was among the first modern democracies in europe after its formation in 1918. However, due to the world war II and the invasion of the Soviets between 48-68 and 68-89 the country suffered through a communist regime. The velvet revolution peacefully kicked out the communists in 1989. Czechoslovakia split peacefully through the velvet divorce in 1993 and the Czech Republic has been a part of NATO since 2004 and the European Union since 2007.

It is the fastest growing economy in central and eastern Europe. It is the 6th safest country [1] in the world and children taking public transporation by themselves is common from 1st grade.
